Royal Family Volunteers & Supporters –
Our leadership team met in December to prayerfully consider our next steps regarding camp 2025. We’ve been encouraged by the number of folks who have stepped forward to take on a team leader role who have a passion for serving our kids from hard places. However, we have not filled all the team leader roles. We also have no leads on a discounted or donated space, large enough for conducting inventory, organizing, preparing and accessing our supplies needed for the in-town events and camp.
The Leadership Team has determined that we will take a gap year from hosting our sleepaway summer camp in 2025. We are excited about spending this next year really dedicating our time and resources to building up our chapter in the following ways:
- Hosting in-town holiday parties/events for past campers. These in-town gatherings are also a fantastic opportunity for new volunteers to try out serving with us, before committing to an entire week away at summer camp.
- Continuing to recruit and train camp team leaders, year-round team leaders, and Royal Tea Party Fundraiser planning team leaders.
- Identifying and moving into a new supply/work room space.
- Planning and preparing for Summer Camp 2026.
- Developing structure for a Mentor Club.
It has always been our hope that the in-town holiday parties would eventually morph into monthly mentoring club gatherings for our campers. As amazing as camp is (a week of getting away from real life and having an amazingly fun vacation, surrounded by volunteers who affirm and love you – our kiddos’ real lives are so tough), mentor club would give us the opportunity to really go deeper in relationship with our kiddos by mentoring and walking side-by-side with them through their challenging everyday lives.
We are hopeful and excited about 2025! We’re looking forward to seeing our team leader roles filled and strengthened … and to growing even closer in relationship to our past campers. We still need our amazing volunteers (both returning and new!) to be able to pull this off. We want to fill these remaining team leader roles as soon as possible to onboard and train folks before planning starts for Camp 2026 this next December.
Please continue to pray for a supply/work room and let us know if any leads come to mind with whom to follow up. Also, please prayerfully consider the available team leader roles for yourself or others whom you think would be a good fit.

SUPPLY ROOM / WORK ROOM
Do you have an extra room or two in your church or corporate building? Royal Family KIDS Camp & Mentoring is looking for a partner. We are a non-profit ministry operating under Renewal City Church and we serve children experiencing foster or kinship care.
New supply/work room requirements:
- Longview/Kelso area
- Approximately 1,000 sq ft. (we already have the heavy duty shelving!)
- Well-sealed against critters (we do store food items)
- Can be accessed weekdays, weeknights and weekends by our volunteers
PREFERENCES:
- In a location where a dozen different volunteers can each access when they need to work on their respective areas of camp (crafts; dress up; beauty parlor; tea party; birthday party; camper gifts; woodshop; sports games; kitchen supplies, etc.).
- All items need to be accessed throughout the year, so a rental storage unit isn’t ideal, when things are all jammed and piled into one space.
- We also hold work days and meetings throughout the year, so a room nearby with tables available to spread out on, bathrooms, etc. would be ideal.
The mission of For The Children is to transform our local community by interrupting cycles of neglect, abuse, and abandonment of children in the foster care system. Too often these children, who have experienced family-induced trauma, find themselves on paths to academic failure, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, sex trafficking, homelessness, and incarceration.
At our Royal Family KIDS summer camps – and other programs throughout the year – dedicated to changing the trajectory of these young lives, we strive to plant seeds of hope, happiness, and wholeness. By helping to heal the scars of the past, we hope to aid these children in transforming into resilient adults with the ability to overcome challenges and be successful and healthy members of our community.
Our non-profit organization runs 100% on generous donations from compassionate donors and is 100% staffed by volunteers.
