Since 1985, churches, church staff, volunteers and local municipal partners have dedicated their time, talent and treasures to help transform the lives of vulnerable children across the globe and specifically here in Cowlitz County since 2017. While Royal Family KIDS has formally overseen our camps and mentoring programs, the breadth of the work that has been done through our chapter here locally and around the globe, doesn’t simply fall into those two programs.
Today, our different chapters may provide anything from direct trauma intervention to advocacy, fostering, adoption, support to parents, and other crucial wraparound services. While our headquarters has always acknowledged this work, trends around the needs of these children and families have come to the surface and extreme gaps in fulfilling these needs still remain – providing an incredible opportunity for the organization and our chapter to step in more wholly.
Royal Family KIDS Camp will always remain the cherished and premier program, alongside Royal Family KIDS Mentoring. However, in order to address the systemic issues surrounding the child welfare needs, the organization must evolve.
As of November 2020, Royal Family KIDS national office and local chapters, officially became “For The Children.” This change allows our chapter and the church community, to expand its work around advocacy, awareness, fostering and adoption, volunteer engagement and more. For The Children continues to serve vulnerable children through our Royal Family KIDS camps and mentoring programs but is encouraged and eager to place additional focus on the systemic issues facing our children around the globe.
“Royal Family KIDS Camp” stays the same and is just one of the programs and services offered by our local chapter.
While we weren’t able to have camp in 2020, we were blessed by the additional outreach efforts we were able to launch including camper and family care packages, car parades, Christmas presents, camp mail@home and more!
We continue to look forward to the future launch of Mentor Club, Teen Reach Adventure Camp, and additional programs that would all be operated under our “For The Children” chapter.
